Learning and Performance
There are many factors that contribute to a thriving learning environment. An article published in the 2012 Harvard Business Review, Creating Sustainable Performance, identified four requisites
for helping people thrive: decision-making discretion, sharing information, minimizing incivility, and offering performance feedback.
These cornerstones are part of a new model for managing the people-side of business known as Learning and Performance (L&P). It incorporates knowledge capture, distributive learning and career planning across the enterprise via personalized modules users can manage at their own pace.
Advancements in technology have made off-the-shelf L&P software both user-friendly and affordable. A great first step would be a review of your internal culture to assess alignment with the company's vision and whether a learning and performance program could help strengthen your bottom line.
Certainly, fostering a culture where contribution and capture sit side-by-side sets the tone for exceptional performance.
